The people of the Carteret Islands, in Papa New Guinea, are being evacuated from their homes as the Island is being swallowed up by the rising sea levels. The people are being relocated to Buka where they are building new houses form various plants. The people of the island have no choice to move and it is a very sad time, they sing in the streets and have ceremonies because their island is being destroyed,  the tress and plants are dying as the sea has demolished the roots, the land has been destroyed, and everything is rotting. They built walls to try and stop the waves coming in but these were not strong enough, so the people must be moved as the island is going to be wiped away soon.

There are three types of coastal protection in Sidmouth:

1. Sea Wall: A sea wall on the beach prevents the wave from erodfing cliffs and reduces flooding which may otherwise cause problems. Although this is good they cost alot of money and need repair often as the sea will erode the wall over time too and they also look very unattractive.
2. Groynes: Groynes are used to prevent longshored drift, this is important becasue this can destroy towns if their beaches have no sand and can also ruin their tourist attraction; such as Dartmouth as longshore drift has given Exmouth their sand. But they are also very unattractive and can be destroyed by waves easily as they are only made of wood and may rott.
3. Rocks: These are a simple way of coastal protection, as they are nice to look at and prevent erosion, but can be easily eroded.

Traffic is a huge problem in cities, the reason for this is becasue the CBD is the busiest part of a city. This is because the CBD is where all the main shops and buildings are, and this is the reason for this traffic becasue everyone is trying to get into work and people are trying to get into the centre to go shopping ect. So how can we cut down on the amount of traffic?

One way to do this is to create cheaper public transport. Transport money is going up, train tickets are more expensive, Bus fare is also mucvh more expensive than it used to be. So by reducing the cost, more people are going to buy the tickets. Also tgo make the public transport better quality, No-one likes sitting in an old uncomofy bus, so by making it better quality transport more people are likley to use it. This cuts down on the amount of cars on the road also cutting down on polution.

Park and rides are a great new way that many cities are introducing. The idea of this is that you park your car for free and then pay for your bus fare. Alot of people would consider doing this becausae you don't have to pay for a whole days worth of parking and also this cuts down on acrs on the rtoad also on pollution.

The amount of times people drive round looking for a car parking space is probably pretty high. Multi-storey car parks is also a way on cutting down on traffic. More cars are able to fit into the car park as it is built up rather than out, creating less traffic becasue the cars don't have to look everywhere for a parking space.

Some people are working form home becasue they do not have to drive to work they are just able to work form home and cut down on fuel and also this is bertter for the enviroment.

Car sharing is a good way to save money also to cut down on trafiic if evryone shared a lift to someone that they workewd with this would cut down on traffic enormously, also saving money.

These are many ways that traffic can be prevented.
